About
Hi, I’m Shelby — the hands and heart behind Shelby’s Creations 🤍

I fell in love with crafting through what many people lovingly call “grandma hobbies.” For me, those skills were passed down through generations — from my Great Grandmother, my Grandmother, and many incredible Arrernte ladies who generously shared their knowledge, stories, and creativity at the Alice Springs Beanie Festival.
Those experiences shaped not just how I craft, but why I craft.
Crafting has also had a deeply positive impact on my own wellbeing. The rhythm of crochet, working with my hands, and slowing down with each stitch has helped me manage anxiety and depression in a really meaningful way. Creating has become both a comfort and a grounding practice — something that brings calm, focus, and joy. That sense of care and calm is something I try to weave into every piece I make.
I’m also a very sentimental person. Some of the most treasured items I own are handmade pieces — because I don’t just remember the item, I remember who made it or who gifted it to me. Handmade carries memory, love, and connection in a way nothing mass-produced ever could.
That belief sits at the heart of Shelby’s Creations.
Why Baby Crochet?
Creating pieces for babies and little ones feels especially meaningful. These are items that mark beginnings — gifts given with love, pieces held close, and objects that quietly become part of a family’s story.
I love the idea of being part of a baby’s beginning, and creating something that might one day be passed on — a small heirloom that carries memories from one generation to the next.
My goal is to create calm, comforting crochet pieces that feel gentle, timeless, and safe — items that can be treasured now and lovingly handed down in the future.
How My Pieces Are Made
Every item at Shelby’s Creations is:
- Carefully crafted items by hand
- Made using baby-safe yarns
- Designed with comfort, simplicity, and durability in mind
Because each piece is handmade, no two items are exactly the same — and that’s part of the beauty. Every stitch reflects care, patience, and respect for the craft.
What I Value
- Thoughtful, slow handmade work
- Baby-safe materials
- Simple, timeless designs
- Quality pieces made to last
- Honouring traditional skills, community knowledge, and wellbeing through craft
Thank you for supporting handmade and choosing something created with genuine care.
I’m so grateful you’re here and honoured to be part of your gifting — and your family’s story 🤍
